Mumbai, March 29: With the final match of the Cricket World Cup scheduled in their backyard, legislators in Maharashtra feel they should be given passes to watch it.
Members of state Legislative Council today demanded that passes should be given to them for the final match to be held at Wankhede Stadium, a short distance from the imposing Vidhan Bhawan building where the budget session of the state legislature is underway.
“We should get cricket match passes for the April 2 World Cup final,” Congress MLC Subhash Chavan said. He was backed by Shiv Sena MLC Diwakar Raote who said, “We have come to know that the state sports department has got around 250-300 complimentary passes for the final match. But we do not know if we would get the passes.”
Youth and Sports Minister Padmakar Walwi said the department has not yet received the passes.
