Mumbai, April 20: Maharashtra Government has sent a proposal to the Centre, seeking life imprisonment for those indulged in milk adulteration.
“We have sent a proposal to the Centre, requesting it to make law to ensure life imprisonment for milk adulteration crime,” Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwe informed the Legislative Council today.
He said he would personally pursue the matter with the Centre.
The minister also assured to bring these cases before the fast track court for immediate action against the offenders.
The government would send flying squads to slums in the city, as the complaints were received about the milk adulteration in these areas, he said.
Pointing to health hazards due to adulterated milk, Congress MLC Sanjay Dutt said the government should take strict action against the perpetrators of the crime.
