Mumbai, November 22: The Maharashtra government has opposed the bail plea of 2008 Malegaon bomb blast accused Sadhavi Pragya Singh Thakur saying it had challenged the lower court’s order which dropped charges under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the case.
Justice V M Kanade of the Bombay High Court would decide her bail plea next week. The petitioner contended that she was entitled to bail as MCOCA charges had been dropped in the case. The accused said that she was in custody since her arrest last year.
The state argued that Sadhavi’s bail petition was not maintainable and should be dismissed. Sadhavi is facing charges of hatching the Malegaon bomb blast conspiracy and allowing her two wheeler to be used in the explosion that killed six persons in September last year.
