Amidst growing demand for booking VHP leader Praveen Togadia for making provocative speeches, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reportedly asked the Maharashtra government to take appropriate action against the Hindu outfit leader.
Sources, Thursday, said that the MHA has asked the Prithviraj Chavan government in Maharashtra to begin a probe against Togadia and book him for his extremely provocative speech against the members of minority community.
The Congress government in the state is said to have ordered the forensic examination of Togadia’s hate speech and is now waiting for a detailed report to be able to register a case for inciting communal hatred against him.
Referring to Togadia’s alleged inflammatory speech near Adilabad, the same district where MIM leader Owaisi had also delivered his hate speech, Singh said that similar action must be taken against the VHP leader.
I appeal to the Union Home Minister and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to take swift action. No religious fundamentalism, either it be a Hindu or a Muslim, should be allowed to spread hate and communalism in the country,” Singh said.
However, Togadia remains defiant so far. Talking to the media at Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, Togadia said, “The Hindus in the country are afraid. Neither our religious sentiments nor the livelihoods are secure here.”
“The government is snatching our jobs in the name of reservation for Muslims. There is a minority development corporation, as if the people in majority don’t need development. The government provides subsidies for Haj pilgrims, but imposing tax of Rs.15 on each people coming to Kumbh Mela, is this not a partiality?” asked Togadia.
