Maha dharna on may 30 against acquittal of all Tsunduru case accused by HC

Describing High Court judgment in the infamous Tsunduru Dalit massacre case as undemocratic, the Struggle Committee for Justice to Tsunduru Dalits has called for Chalo Hyderabad and Maha Dharna at Indira Park on May 30 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Struggle Committee leaders Bojja Tharakam, Vimalakka, B. Gangadhar, Ramalingam, Jhansi, Sandhya and others expressed concern over the High Court concluding the hearing in only seven days and setting aside the conviction of all accused by District Special Court. They recalled that upper caste persons, armed with lethal weapons, raided houses of Dalits in Tsunduru on August 6, 1991 and hacked eight Dalits into pieces and threw two bodies in the Tungabhadra canal. Besides, five others were critically injured.
Following uproar against the massacre, the government, after 16 years, constituted a special court under SC, ST (prevention) of Atrocities Act, which awarded life imprisonment to 21 accused and 35 others were sentenced to undergo imprisonment for one year besides a fine of Rs 2000 on each accused. They lamented that the High Court hurriedly concluded the hearing in the sensational case in a week and acquitted all the 56 accused on April 22, 2014 giving rise to suspicions.
The Struggle Committee leaders said representatives of various political parties, social workers, Dalits associations leaders, democrats would participate in the dharna. (NSS)
