Mumbai, August 24: Maharashtra cabinet may meet for the last time tomorrow as the dates of assembly elections are likely to be announced on August 25.
The code of conduct may come into effect from August 26 and hence the cabinet meeting is crucial, as more populist schemes could be announced thereafter.
The five year term of the Congress-NCP Government ends on November 3 and the elections, which could be in two phases are likely to be held in October, ahead of Diwali on October 17.
The Democratic Front Government is in power for two consecutive five years terms since 1999 in the state.
Loan waiver package of Rs 6,200 crore for farmers and increasing deadline for regularising slums upto 2000 were the common man and farmers’ friendly decisions were taken by the Government.
