Maha Assembly polls: 83 candidates file nomination on Day 2

Mumbai, September 19: With major political parties either busy with seat sharing talks or finalising candidates, 83 candidates today filed papers on second day of filing nominations for the October 13 Maharashtra Assembly polls.

“Altogether 83 candidates across the state filed the nominations, today of which two are women,” an election official said.

There were two candidates from suburban Mumbai, four from Pune, one in Thane and five in Nagpur. No one filed papers from Mumbai city, the official said.

The notification for the election to the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly was issued yesterday, setting in motion the process for the single-phase poll.

Scrutiny will take place on September 26 and September 29 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations.
