Mumbai, July 28: Maharashtra Government today said it would take stringent action, including cancellation of status, on minority educational institutes that do not adhere to norms for linguistic or religious minority quota.
Minority development department minister Naseem Khan announced this after a meeting at his official residence here.
The minister said he had asked the department to take action against such institutes.
“There is a provision to cancel the minority status of such institutes if they fail to fill up the mandatory quota for three years in a row,” he said.
Henceforth, if such junior colleges fail to abide by the quota norms even for a year, they will lose the status, an official release quoting Khan said.
