Hyderabad: K Naga Raju an accused in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Madrasa case has been taken into 1-day police custody by the Central Crime Station (CCS) team. He was in police custody till Friday. He has been sent back into judicial custody on Saturday. Police sought to take him into police custody before the XII additional chief metropolitan magistrate at the Nampally court complex to interrogate him and to ascertain the role of others into the scam.
The accused was interrogated by a team of police, during which he is said to have revealed vital information regarding the scam. Naga Raju is a field officer with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and allegedly took a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from prime accused Mohammed Zubair.
As many as 12 persons have been listed as accused in the case including an SSA assistant academic monitoring officer, identified as Asra Firdous, SSA junior assistant Naseer, SSA junior assistant Yogender, deputy inspector of schools, Bahadurpura mandal Srinivas Chary and Mufti Mastan, a government school teacher and resident of Moghalpura. They are said to be absconding.
