Madras University signs 10 MoUs with US varsities

Chennai July 28: The Madras University had signed MoUs with 10 universities in the US as part of its plan to internationalise higher education, its Vice Chancellor G Thiruvasagam said here today.

Inaugurating ‘Experience America’ expo, organised by the US Consulate here as part of its plan to showcase educational opportunities in that country, he said international exchange in education should be a “two-way process where students, faculty and knowledge were exchanged and not merely received by us”.

Indian institutions were rapidly learning how to market the expertise available with them, he said.

On the status of educated Indians in America, he said, “India has moved from being a job-seeking economy to one that is being driven by demand in developed nations for services.
