Madras High Court orders separate lanes for VIPs

Chennai: The National Highways Authority of India have been directed to provide separate VIP lanes at toll plazas by the Madras High Court on Wednesday.

Looking at the current scenario, VIPs including judges across Indian are compelled to wait in the toll plaza ques, PTI reported.

The bench comprising of Justices Huluvadi G Ramesh and M V Muralidharan directing the NHAI said: “It is disheartening to note that the vehicles of VIPs and sitting judges are stopped at toll plazas… It is very unfortunate that sitting judges are also compelled to wait in the toll plaza for 10 to 15 minutes.”
