All the six members today won in Rajya Sabha elections held today at Assembly. They won the elections through first priority vote include MA Khan got 49 votes, KVP Ramachandra Rao and T Subbirami Reddy got 46 votes each in the open ballot. While TRS leader K Kesava Rao got 26 votes on first priority basis, Telugu Desam leaders G Mohan Rao and Seethamahalakshmi got 38 votes each in a similar manner. While five votes were rejected including one that of Daggubati who rejected his own vote.
It may be noted that the Congress leader D Venkateswar Rao rejected to vote. The elections saw a mixed response from various parties as some preferred to stay away while helped others to win. Telangana Congress leaders said to have voted for K Kesava Rao Lok Satta leader Jayaprakash Narayana reportedly voted to a candidate of TDP.
On KK’s win TRS leader E Rajender expressed happiness. He said that Telangana peoples’ aspirations will be reality soon. Kesava Rao extended thanks to those who helped him win.
T Subbirami Reddy extended thanks to Party high command for the RS membership. I will abide by the party to serve at my best, he said. He denied to speak on bifurcation. MA Khan too extended thanks to Cong chief Sonia and Rahul and other leaders. He sought Seemandhra to cooperate for division of the state being given by the UPA Government. (NSS)
