Government Whip in Rajya Sabha MA Khan on Wednesday demanded that the Congress party should allocated adequate number of tickets to the candidates belonging to the Muslim and other minority communities.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Khan said that the Congress party should give at least one ticket to Muslims in each of the 10 districts of Telangana. He expressed confidence that the Congress would do justice with the minorities and ensure their proper representation in the legislative bodies.
Welcoming the appointment of Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Dr N Raghuveera Reddy as the chiefs of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committees respectively, Khan said that by elevating the Backward Classes leaders to the top posts, the Congress party has proved that it believes in practical and not empty promises. He praised the Congress party for its welfare schemes, especially for the minorities. He said the Congress party made Dr Manmohan Singh, belonging to minority Sikh community, as the country’s Prime Minister to prove that it was sincere towards the development of minorities. (INN)
