Deputy Leader of Congress in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticized the government for proposed power tariff hike, calling it a raw deal for consumers who were reeling under the impact of inflation. Addressing a press conference here at Assembly premises he said Telangana power utilities on Saturday submitted Annual Revenue Requirement (ARRs), including power tariff hike proposals to Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) and proposed to increase the tariff up to 10 to 50 paisa per unit. This would burden the poor public with ₹ 1088Cr. He asserted that Congress Legislative party strongly condemned the proposal. He recalled that TRS chief Chandrasekhar Rao during his election campaign had promised not to increase power tariff.
