Leader of opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir sent a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao demanding immediate payment of arrears of Overseas Scholarship Scheme and Fee reimbursement scheme for minority students.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir lamented that the government has not yet begun implementation of Overseas Scholarship Scheme under which minority students are provided financial assistance to study abroad. Although the eligible and deserving candidates have been selected but they were not issued the first instalment of the scholarship as a result the students are facing financial crisis. He asserted that many selected students have left for foreign countries and have begun studies.
Mr. Shabbir demanded that the chief minister immediately convene a review meeting in this connection and issue strict orders to the officials. He further added that several complaints are being received regarding other minority schemes also.
