Sydney, Dec.04 : Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has said that he is ready to step up in the absence of injured pace spearhead Mitchell Starc and recently retired Mitchell Johnson for the upcoming Test series against West Indies.
Lyon said that he wasn’t worried about the bowling conundrum caused by the absence of two left-arm pacers and insisted that he was happy to work with whatever conditions he was presented with, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The 28-year-old, who has played 49 Tests, said that his responsibilities grow with each series and looking forward to assist the senior guys in the squad.
Inexperienced James Pattinson and Nathan Coulter-Nile have been called up to fill the void as Australia will take on West Indies in the first of the three-match series in Hobart on Thursday. (ANI)
