Hyderabad, March 31: In today’s world, democracy in its true spirit is not easy to find. The complexities that have set into the Indian political system have made the right selection of candidates a difficult process. Mr. J.M. Lyngdoh former Chief Election Commissioner of India expressed these views yesterday at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University while interacting with the staff and students on the theme of Democracy and Elections.
Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Vice Chancellor MANUU presided over and initiated the interaction.
Mr.Lyngdoh who served as the Chief Election Commissioner between 2001 and 2004 is credited with the conduct of free and fair elections in Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat. Mr. Lyngdoh also spoke about the involvement of the corporate world in Indian politics while referring to capitalization being the cause of corruption in the Indian democratic system. He expressed his pleasure on visiting MANUU and described Urdu as a sweet language. He also said extinction of this beautiful language will be a great loss to humanity.
