L&T may bag Rs 10,000 cr fresh order in 4-6 weeks

Mumbai, August 28: Engineering & construction major Larsen & Toubro today said that it is likely to get fresh orders worth Rs 10,000 crore in the next four to six weeks from power, oil & gas and infrastructure sectors.

“We have a good chance to get Rs 10,000 crore orders in the next four to six weeks. It will come from sectors like power, oil & gas and infrastructure,” L&T Chairman & Managing Director A M Naik said at the company’s Annual General Meeting here today.

As on March 31, 2009, L&T’s order book position stood at Rs 70,300 crore, with the company booking more than Rs 10,000 crore orders in the last month alone, Naik said.

“The order inflow is in line with our expectations,” company’s Chief Financial Officer Y M Deosthalee said, adding, that there was a 20-25 per cent increase in order inflow as on July this fiscal over the same period last fiscal.

The company had earlier indicated that the order inflow during the current fiscal would grow in the range of 25-30 per cent over the last fiscal.

Naik, however, did not reveal the identity of the clients from which L&T was likely to get the orders, saying, “you will have to wait for the announcements.
