TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has compelled Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to invite him to the unveiling of the statue of N T Rama Rao on the Parliament premises.
The Speaker called up Naidu and invited him to the program after his party MPs led by Nama Nageswara Rao met her and protested against Chandrababu not being invited to the program. They demanded that their leader be officially invited.
It may be mentioned here that the Speaker had initially not invited Chandrababu officially. He only received intimation from the Union minister Purandareswari as a family member. He was in a
dilemma whether or not to go to Delhi in view of the function being organized by NTR’s daughter
Purandareswari, as a Congress affair.
He later discussed the issue with Nama and other MPs. After the discussion, Nama took the
appointment of the Speaker and sent messages to all the TDP MPs to be in Delhi on Monday. They
met the Speaker and formally lodged their protest and succeeded in getting invitation for their
boss. (NSS)
