NEW DELHI: The mammoth seven-phased Lok Sabha elections, one of the most bitterly fought are just concluded and now the exit poll results will give an early indication of the results.
The results will be declared on Thursday, May 23, but before that, exit polls will attempt to predict the return of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with 300 plus seats, according to News18-IPSOS exit poll survey.
Republic C-Voter has predicted more than 300 of 543 seats for the BJP. Times Now-VMR has also predicted that the NDA will cross 300.
Rahul Gandhi’s Congress, their allies and other parties are likely to score. Despite the arithmetic being in its favour, the survey predicts that SP-BSP Gathbandhan will fail to make a mark.
The 2014 elections brought Narendra Modi to power with a thunderous majority to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The BJP swept 288 of these 545 seats. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), which made way for the NDA, was left adrift with a meager 102 seats.
A total of 918 candidates including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are in the fray to test their destiny in the last phase. Polling began at 7 am in 59 parliamentary constituencies spread over seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh and will continue till 6 pm.
