LS polls 2019: 60.21% voter turnout recorded till 6 pm

NEW DELHI: A 60.21% voter turnout recorded till 6 pm on Sunday in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls with West Bengal on top of the chart.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), West Bengal witnessed – 73.05 percent polling while Jharkhand registered the second highest voter turnout at 70.5 percent till 1 pm.

The estimated turnout in Madhya Pradesh was 69.38 percent, Himachal Pradesh 49.43%, Punjab 58.81, Chandigarh 63.57, Uttar Pradesh 54.37 and Bihar 49.92 percent.

Polling began at 7 am in 59 parliamentary constituencies spread over seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh and will continue till 6 pm.

The seven-phase general election started on April 11. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 23.
