Congratulating senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on his election as the 13th President of the country, Lok Satta(LS) Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan today expressed hope that he would defend and protect the Constitution and render justice to all sections of people. In a statement here he hoped that Mr Mukherjee would transcend his four decade old political career and represent the entire country as the head of the nation. Although the President of India enjoys only limited Constitutional powers, he hoped, Mr. Mukherjee would use his stature, vast experience and good relations with all parties to build a consensus on key reforms and take the country forward.
