Hyderabad: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has started an Android mobile app to facilitate the consumers to book LPG cylinders online. Consumers can now pay the amount online through credit/debit cards.
Meanwhile, Mr. Muthu Swami, Coordinator of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited told that he has been receiving many complaints from the consumers that the delivery staffs are demanding extra money over and above the cost of the cylinder.
While addressing a review meeting of the LPG Dealers, Chief Rationing Officer of Telangana, Ms. Bala Maya Devi told that the LPG dealers that delivery staff has no authority to demand extra charges from the consumers. If they do so and if the consumers complain, action should be taken.
When T. Ramanuja Rao, Distributor of Madhavi Indane Gas Agency was contacted, he told that the consumers should pay only the amount entered in the cash receipt. If delivery staff demand extra money, it should be brought to the notice of the agency.
If delivery staff demand extra money, the consumer can make a complaint to the dealer by dialing the number of the dealer which is mentioned on the top of the cash receipt.
On the other hand, delivery boys complained that despite physical labour, gas agencies pay only Rs. 9000 per month. They told that every day they deliver nearly 30 cylinders to consumers. Sometimes, they have to carry the cylinder to the 4th or 5th floors of the buildings and each cylinder weighs 14.2 kg.
Delivery boys demanded the government to enact legislation for their health insurance. They pointed out that recently, one of the delivery boys died due to heart attack while delivering the LPG cylinder.
