LPG, CNG prices to be reduced: Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, March 24: Reeling under tremendous pressure from Opposition and party colleagues over hike in LPG prices, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said that the government will reduce the VAT on cooking gas.

The Chief Minister said that the LPG price would be reduced by Rs 12-Rs13. Earlier, the government has announced to withdraw Rs.40 subsidy on each LPG cylinder.

She informed Samay news channel in an exclusive tete-a-tete with Sahara Media Director and Editor Mr Upendra Rai.

It might be possible that the Delhi budget for 2010-11 have left the already burdened common man angry, but the chief minister promised that government is ready to review whatever is possible to reduce the financial burden from Delhiites.

She said that government will consider the suggestions of MLAs to waive of five percent VAT from LPG cylinders.

The Chief Minister also announced to reduce the CNG prices. However, she indicated that electricity would cost more to Delhiites.

Government has also been planning to hike the tax duty over alcohol and liquor products in the national capital. Dikshit said that Wine and Beer prices are likely to go up.

It is noteworthy here that alcohol products are very economical in the state in comparison to others.
