Sultanpur, May 17: Failing to convince his girlfriend to marry him, a youth shot her dead before committing suicide in Kudebhar police station area here, police said.
Ankur and Anju were having an affair since a long time but unaware of their relationship the family of the girl had fixed her marriage for May 19, they said.
Ankur, who had been pressurising the girl to marry him, failed to convince her and last night he went to her house in Dhanpatganj Bazar locality and shot her dead.
As the neighbours rushed on hearing the gun shot, Ankur also shot himself dead, they added.
