Bollywood actor and host of show Satyamev Jayate Aamir Khan has compared love jihad to honour killings. The actor was in Bhopal on Sunday for the live screening of ‘Mumkin Hai’ programme.
Addressing a press conference thereafter, the actor dodged a direct question on the issue of ‘love jihad’ by saying “I need to do more research before I give a significant comment.” However, he later compared love jihad to honour killings. “In both cases, we don’t respect the right of an individual to choose a partner for life.”
He gave out that intermarriage is not jihad, rather it is India, where a mix exists.
He also said that humanity should come first than religion and he feels that the forceful conversion of religion is highly unjust.
Aamir had earlier raised the serious consequences of the practice of `honour killing` by Khap Panchayats in his hit TV show `Satyamev Jayate` where he strongly condemned it.
