Love gone wrong: UP man kills girlfriend, commits suicide

Lucknow: A man in love with a teenager shot her dead early on Friday upon learning about her impending marriage, and then turned the gun on himself, police said.

The two deaths occurred in Bairyakaji village of Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district.

The girl, Pinki Yadav, 18, died of excessive bleeding from the gunshot wounds at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Trauma Centre where she was rushed.

The 35-year-old assailant, Jaihind Maurya, after firing at her, pulled the trigger on himself and committed suicide.

He was disturbed when he learnt that the girl was getting married in March.

An official said Maurya tried to persuade the girl to turn town the marriage move, but when she declined to do so, citing family pressure, he shot her dead.
