Kolkata: Louiz Banks is planning to bring out a solo album on Rabindranath Tagore songs.
He said the solo album will have his favourite ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ tracks and retain strong influences of modern progressive and contemporary jazz on the instrumental side.
“It will be slightly different from the previous contemporary renditions on the Bard’s works but again I will stick to the basic parameters of Gurudev’s music. It will be my tribute to Tagore and possibly come out in 2018-19,” Banks told.
The musician has collaborated with classical vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, sound engineer Biswadip Chatterjee and Prasant Samaddar for ‘First Blossoms’, a fusion album of Tagore’s songs.
“The new album has different strains of music – Indian classical, modern western classical with Tagore songs – and the end product is a rich, soulful musical bouquet,” he said.
Khan said they had put their “soul” into the album.
