Kane Williamson and BJ Watling helped New Zealand to take 134 runs lead against England on the third day of the Lord’s Test.
Starting the day at 303-2, New Zealand lost Ross Taylor early after adding 34 runs to the over-night score.
Williamson, who began the day at 92, didn’t have to wait long for the landmark which came from 148 balls. This was his first century against England and 10th overall.
New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum however, seemed to play a limited over-match, scoring a quick 42 of just 38 deliveries, before becoming the victim of Mark Wood.
However, just when the Kiwis were looking to dominate, rain came in and umpires were forced to take an early lunch.fter the rain delay, all-rounder Corey Anderson couldn’t stay long at the wicket and was caught brilliantly by Jose Butler on the leg side.
Like yesterday, Bell once again dropped a catch off his bowling and this time it was Williamson. Williamson though failed to make the most of the reprieve as he fell to Moeen Ali for 132.
Ali sent Craig for a duck, picking his second wicket in 3 balls. Tim Southee and BJ Watling tried to play a few shots, taking the Kiwi lead past the 100-run mark. Southee though faltered trying to pull Anderson out of the park.
After the tea break, Watling came out attacking and got to his ninth Test fifty. He was running out of partners as Henry went trying to hit Wood out of the ground, Boult too didn’t bother to hang around and finally perished to Stuart Broad. Watling remained unbeaten at 61.
At the time of reporting, New Zealand got all-out at 523 having an overall lead of 134 runs.
Wood,Broad and Ali bagged three-three wickets each, while James Anderson took one wicket. (ANI)
