London, August 5: British politician and former track and field athlete Lord Sebastian Coe has hit back at allegations of widespread doping in athletes, saying it’s time to come out fighting for protection of the sport’s reputation.
Coe has described the allegations as a declaration of war, adding that there is no integrity in drug testing that demands these kind of allegations, BBC reported
Athletics’ world governing body, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), said the blood results were not positive tests or proof of doping.
A German TV station had earlier accused the IAAF of not probing 150 suspect blood samples, including one of an unnamed British star.
Russia has denied the claims that its officials were paid to supply banned substances and cover up tests, rejecting the allegations as a pack of lies.
Coe, who is presently the vice-president of IAAF, would run for the world governing body’s presidency next year. (ANI)
