Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is planning to set up long-range missile launch facility at coastal Machilipatnam in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. DRDO chief V K Saraswat told that the organization has resolved issues with the Ministry of Petroleum as the area falls under Krishna-Godavari basin.
Speaking to media Dr. Saraswat told that he plans to set up a launch site at Machilipatnam and the initial work required has been completed. He is working with state government for obtaining the land required for the centre. The DRDO chief revealed that nearly 260 acres of land will be needed for the test facility and has been identified.
Dr. Saraswat is in the city to attend 26th national convention of aerospace engineers and National Seminar.
