Jahanuma Govt. Health Centre is functioning in a nice building where nearly 200 patients visit for treatment. Since the health centre is located in Muslim predominant area, almost all the patients visiting the health centre are Muslims. But unfortunately the centre is on the mercy of a single nurse. Nurse Jayamma is the sole incharge of the health centre. She told that although the health centre has engaged doctor but he visits the health centre thrice a week.
When talked to patients one Mohammed Anwer told he arrived the centre to get BP checkup done but the staff comprising of 4 people are not competent enough to do that. Another patient Imran arrived to get treatment for cough and fever. He was given the medicines by the nurse kept on the table. Almost every patient is given the same tablets and medicines.
Fahmida Sultana residing in the neighborhood of health centre told that she has never seen the doctor here, the nurse present here is the sole in charge of the centre. Sources said that the medicines provided by the government is black marketed from the back door.
