Ahmedabad, April 10: A 28-year-old NRI woman today committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her father’s house in Meghaninagar locality here, police said.
London-based Jalpa Deepankumar (28), was staying at her father’s residence in Sai Baba society for the past one month, police said.
Jalpa had come to India to attend her brother’s wedding, and was scheduled to return to London where she lived with her husband within a couple of days.
“Probably she did not want to go back and therefore took the extreme step,” a police official said.
Police have recovered a suicide note from the room, but refused to divulge what it said.
None of the family members were present in the house when she allegedly committed suicide. Further probe is on.
