Logjam over Telangana persists in Parlaiment

The raging Telangana crisis forced adjournment of the Lok Sabha for the second day today without transacting any business amidst ruckus created by members from both the regions.

Speaker Meira Kumar announced that two no-confidence notices against the UPA Government were tabled by TDP member M. Venugopal and Congress member Sabbam Hari. However, they could not be taken up because of the noisy scenes, she pointed out and adjourned the House for the day.

As usual, soon after the House assembled at 11 am, Seemandhra Congress members rushed into the well with placards and chanted slogans in favor of a united State. They were countered by the Telangana members throwing the House into pandemonium. When her efforts to restore calm and order proved futile, the Speaker adjourned the House for the first time till 12 noon.

When the House reassembled, there was no let-up in the slogan chanting and protests in the well leading to its adjournment for the day. Similar drama was witnessed in the Rajya Sabha forcing the Chairman Hamid Ansari to repeatedly adjourn the House. (NSS)
