Local bodies elections to be held soon, says CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday announced that the State Government would soon conduct elections for local bodies in the State.

Talking to media persons while participating in the Indiramma Baata programme at Sarpavaram in East Godavari district, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government has already taken a decision to conduct local body elections and the notification in this regard would be issued soon once the legal problems were cleared in the court.

The Chief Minister called upon the party rank and file to give wide publicity to government’s welfare programmes and schemes and take necessary steps to ensure that the benefits of programmes reach the door steps of the people. Stating that the ground level workers in the party would play a crucial role, he said that the party would recognize their services and reward them suitably at an appropriate time.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government would fill the nominated posts with those party leaders, who have sincerely worked to strengthen the party. He reiterated that the government would give top priority for the welfare of Backward Classes and ready to spend large amounts for their upliftment.

The Chief Minister also denied having any differences with Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and they were working together to implement the government’s programmes and to strengthen the party.
