LKH to start construction of ITP in April 2012

After forming a joint venture with GEM and Vittal Innovation City to develop India’s first ‘hi-tech electronic city’, Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH), an integrated part of Andhra Pradesh Government has received the nod from Project Approval Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India under its ‘scheme for Integrated Textile Parks’, to set-up a state-of-the-art textile park within the 10,000 acres in Ananthapur.

The integrated textile park will invest Rs 120 crore to develop common infrastructure, design studios, ready to use garment manufacturing units, garment training institute and trade hub, an official release said here today. It is expected that the units coming-up in the park will bring in another Rs 660 crore over a period of 5-10 yrs. When fully operational, the park will employ over 10,000 local people mainly women from neighboring villages, the release said. Lepakshi Foundation has already started community textile parks to implant skills in these women to work in the said textile park.
