Hyderabad: The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, Hyderabad) successfully concluded its 5 day Webinar series exploring the impact of Covid-19 on India on May 22, 2020.
The webinar series was held in collaboration with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Osmania University, and the Centre for Digital Education Technology, Osmania University. Prof. PL Vishweshwar Rao, Director, St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College moderated the whole program.
The five sessions brought together a distinguished panel of speakers to discuss the way in which India’s media, MSME sector, migrants, educational institutions, and society were coping with the pandemic.
They included Prof. K. Stevenson (OU), Prof. Srinivasulu (OU), Prof. G. Nagamallika (EFLU), Prof. Viraja (OU), Prof. Kishore Gubburi (Guru Nanak Business School), Mr. Sudhakar Goud (Kristan Health Care), Mr. Venkat Reddy (MV Foundation), Ms. Namratha Jaiswal (Aman Vedika), Ms Ritvika (Youngistaan Foundation), Mr. A. Muthyam (Amida Edu Tech), Mrs. S. Supriya (EMMRC), Prof. Shulagna Sarkar (IPE Hyderabad) and Mrs. Padma Priya (Suno India).
Upwards of 800 participants, ranging from professionals to faculty, and graduate to post graduate students and research scholars, from across the length and breadth of the country tuned in to the sessions, eager to absorb the insights of academicians, entrepreneurs, human rights workers, intellectuals and media personalities on the challenges and opportunities presented by the lock down.
The plight of migrants moving across the country, and the future of the Indian economy emerged as the most pressing issues. Students also expressed concern over the economic outcome of the pandemic, with job cuts across multiple sectors and bleak prospects for freshers.
