Liverpool cruise past Swansea to inch closer to top four PL spot

Liverpool has brushed aside rival Swansea City 4-1 as their recent upturn in form enabled them to move to within five points of the top four in the Premier League table.

Alberto Moreno’s close-range finish gave Brendon Rodgers’ men the lead, which was further consolidated by Adam Lallana’s brace in quick succession to leap ahead of the rival. However, Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson fought back immediately as he found the net in the 52nd minute.

Besides, Jonjo Shelvey’s headed in an own goal to add to Swansea’s woes, thus enabling Liverpool to clinch an invincible victory.

Commenting on the performance, Swansea manager Garry Monk said that though they had the most possession and created chances, mistakes they made cost them the game, the BBC reported.

Currently, Liverpool and Swansea are placed at 8th and 9th position respectively in the Premier League table with both the teams on 28 points.
