NEW DELHI: Parts of northeast Delhi continue to teeter on the edge, as incidents of violence continued to flare up after an overnight lull.
Tuesday morning saw rioters pick from where they had left off on Monday night, with several incidents of violence and stone pelting reported from interiors of localities such as Jaffarabad, Chandbagh, Bhajanpura, Brahmapuri which adjoining Maujpur.
The Supreme Court agreed to hear the former Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah’s petition and others seeking lodging of FIRs over the violence on Wednesday.

Situation out of control
Even after the Delhi Police deployed more than 30 companies, the situation could not be controlled.
According to an eyewitness: “The situation is still tense here till now (Tuesday 4 p.m.). Stone pelting and firing are taking place interminably. The maximum number of incidents of violence, arson and firing were reported from Maujpur, Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Kabir Nagar and nearby areas”.
At the Ghaziabad-Seemapuri border around 3,000 people clashed, with the paramilitary forces and policemen trying to control the situation.
Death toll rises to 10
As per GTB Hospital authorities, the death toll rose to 10 in the violence that has rocked northeast Delhi.
Arson in Khajuri Khas
Meanwhile, arson is reported in Khajuri Khas where rioters are targetting vehicles.
Death toll reaches 9
GTB Hospital where hundreds have been admitted said that the death toll climbs to 9.
A total of 135 people have reportedly been injured in the clashes.
Heavy force deployment
Adequate personnel have been deployed in the areas affected by violence. As per reports, total of 35 companies of paramilitary forces have been given to the Delhi Police.
Delhi CM Deputy CM at Rajghat
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was at the Rajghat with deputy CM Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders, said, “The entire country is worried about the violence that took place in Delhi in past two days. There has been loss of lives and properties. If violence increases it will affect everyone. All us are here to offer our prayers to Gandhi Ji who was a follower of non-violence.”

Journalists covering the violence are heckled and forced to delete pictures or videos of the incident by the mob.
Its raining petrol bombs, bullets, stones
The Maujpur-Babarpur metro station has become a battle ground with rival groups pelting each other with stones and throwing petrol bombs with bullets being fired intermittently.
