The ambitious work of translating the literature of Adil Shahi era into Kannada is progressing fast with six books written in Persian and Dakhani Urdu have already been printed and they are expected to be released in first week of August.
“ With the help of scholars and expert translators, we have got six important books written during Adil Shahi dynasty have been translated into Kannada and also been printed, this is one of the major milestones in the ambitious project”, said, Krishna Kolhar Kulkarni, the director of Adil Shahi Literature Translation Committee set up by the Ministry of Kannada and Culture.
It may be noted that the previous BJP government had constituted the committee to translate the Adil Shahi literature, mostly written in Persian, Arabic and Dakhani Urdu, into Kannada.
The project which was initiated by the former Kannada and Culture Minister, Govind Karjol, is aimed at making these precious books available to read in Kannada for the readers here.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Kulkarni said that already six books running into a whopping 3,800 pages have been translated and printed which would be possibly released in first week of August.
Mentioning these books, he said, Tareekh-e-Farishta written in Persian by Mohammad Kasim Farishta, Basateen-e-Salateen by Ibrahim Zuberi in Persian, Ibrahim Nama by Ibrahim Dehelvi in Dakhani Urdu, Guldasta-e-Bijapur in Persian by Mir Ahmed Ali Khan, Hafta Kursi, in Persian by Fitur Khan Lari and Futuhat-e-Alamgeer in Persian by Eshwar Das Nagar.
He said that some nine experts have spent months in translating the books into Kannada as it was tough job to find best translators for the job that needed the most accuracy.
The other books being translated and printed are, Mehmood Nama in Persian by Zahur Bin Zahuri, Ai Nama in Dakhani Urdu b Mulla Nusrati, Tareekh-e-Ali Adil Shah in Persian by Kazi Nurullah, Tareekh-e-Iskandari in Persian by Mulla Nusrati, Kitaab-e-Nauras in Persian by Ibrahim Adil Shah-II and Tadkiratul-Mulk in Persian by Rafi Ahmed Siraj.
Mr. Kulkarni informed that impressed by the work, the Archeological Survey of India has asked the committee to later translate all book into to English also while the M. B. Patil, the Chairman of BLDE association where the books being translated, has asked the committee to translate the books into to Urdu also. “ He has assured to meet required financial assistance for the job”, Mr. Kulkarni said.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
