England football legend Gary Lineker has warned his country’s fans to beware of prostitutes while in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup in case they are underage.
The legal age for sex workers in Brazil is 18, but thousands of youngsters under that age are believed to work in the trade and there are fears that these prostitutes , some of whom are children, will be used by the thousands of fans from across the globe during the tournament in June.
According to the Mirror, the former England striker Lineker, who is an ambassador for the It’s a Penalty Campaign, which aims to tackle the problem in Brazil, said that fans could go to prison if they illegally use underage sex workers.
The Match of the Day host also said that if they can make people aware of the dangers, then there is some way to make the world a better place.
Information videos are due to be played to fans on British Airways flights to Brazil during the World Cup, highlighting the issue, the report added. (ANI)
