Limit VIP movement in temple darshan: CM

Hyderabad, June 22: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the Endowment Department officials to limit the VIP movement in temples and allocate more time for darshan to common people.

Inaugurating the State-level conference of the Endowment Department here, he said the officials should not compromise on creating facilities at any cost for the common people who visit temples for darshan.

Directing the officials to work with commitment to protect the temple lands and its properties, he said those indulging in corrupt practices would not survive in the long run as the properties belonged to God.

Expressing unhappiness that the Endowment department was not generating proportionate income though there were 4.33 lakh acres of temple lands in the state, the Chief Minister advised the officials to strive hard to generate more income from temple properties, which could be utilised for the renovation of temples and propagation of Hindu religion.

The State Government would respond positively to the problems of the Endowment Department employess.

Dr Reddy reviewed the functioning of the department with the Andhra Pradesh Endowment Minister G Venkata Reddy and officials.
