New Delhi: Delhi witnessed light rains early morning which led to traffic jams in several parts of the capital. Despite 1.6 mm rainfall recorded between 6.30 AM and 8.30 AM, the minimum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, said a MeT department official.
The humidity, however, shot up and was recorded at 92 percent at 8.30 AM, he said. Light rains were recorded by many stations including Lodhi Road, Ridge, Ayanagar, Hindon among others.
The day ahead is forecast to be generally cloudy with light rain or thundershower likely to occur in different parts of the city. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius. Traffic Police said heavy traffic was witnessed in many parts of the city as rain caused delays.
No water-logging was reported although heavy traffic and jams were reported in several parts of the city including the stretches between Malkaganj to Clock Tower, Laximi Nagar to ITO on Vikas Margh, Dhaulakuan, Azadpur to Prembari, Ashok Vihar T Point and some other major arteries in the city, said a Traffic Police official.
