Light plane crash kills 4 in Israel

Jerusalem, April 15: Four people have been killed after a light aircraft crashed near an international airport in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.

The incident took place near the Haifa Airbase Technical School on Thursday, when the plane was returning to the airport due to a technical malfunction, Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported.

Initial reports say the aircraft hit some large trees when it was returning to the airport for emergency landing and eventually exploded close to a residential area.

The four victims included a 65-year-old flight instructor and three students.

Last month, two people were killed in a similar incident when a Cessna 172 light aircraft crashed due to an engine failure.
