JAIPUR: Falahari baba, a self-styled godman from Rajasthan, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday by Alwar’s Additional District and Sessions judge Rajendra Sharma for raping a 21-year-old law student from Chhattisgarh.
According to information, the controversial baba was arrested on September 23, 2017, after the victim accused the 70-year-old ‘godman’ of sexually assaulting her at his Alwar-based ashram on August 7.
The sentencing came exactly a year after the arrest of the soi-disant guru in Rajasthan’s Alwar district.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh the baba identified as Falahari Baba, whose real name is Swami Kaushlendra Prapannachari, and he is believed to be surviving on fruits, and so got his name.

The arrest of the fake baba evoked instant reactions on social media. Photos of the convicted baba with PM Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat other BJP leaders including Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia had gone viral on social media media platforms.
