Tripoli, April 17: Amid the looming humanitarian disaster, rights groups have warned that the situation in Misurata is critical.The trapped civilians in the key coastal town are being forced into compact areas due to heavy fighting, Al Jazeera said.
A Red Cross team, led by Jean-Michel Monod who has headed the ICRC delegation in Tripoli for the last few weeks, arrived in the town today to assess the situation. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said yesterday that a ship with nearly 1,200 Asian and African migrants left Misurata for Benghazi, the ‘capital’ of the opposition transitional council.
