Chennai, August 09: The Protector of Emigrants (POE) has detained seven persons, including a Libyan, in connection with an alleged illegal recrutiment for medical and paramedical jobs in Libya.
POE, D Jai Sankar said in a statement here that action was taken based on an alert from the Ministry of Overseas Affairs, Delhi and that the detained persons were handed over to city police last week.
The recruiting agent, M/S Skyway Consultants in Himachal Pradesh, was conducting “illegal recruitment” without permission of POE under the guise of hiring people for vacancies in Libya’s Health Ministry.
“The embassy of India in Tripoli, Libya has confirmed that no approval was given to Skyway Consultants’ for recruitment,” he said, adding no Libyan government official had been given visa to recruit people in India.
