Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath has admitted that the Library Cess being collected by several local bodies was not being remitted to the State Government.
In his reply to a question raised by Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and others in the State Legislative Council during Question Hour, the minister expressed his inability to furnish the particulars of dues payable by each Municipality, Municipal Corporation and Panchayat. He said due to non-submission of Demand Collection and Balance statement from the concerned Panchayats, dues could not be estimated.
He said action was being taken vide GO Ms No 409 Edu (A&L) Dept. Dated.08-11-1994 wherein a committee has been constituted to review the cess collection in the districts. (INN)
