LG V20 to be first non-Google smartphone with Android 7.0

New Delhi :Tech giant Google on Tuesday released latest version of its Android Operating system Nougat for Nexus devices.

“Today, and over the next several weeks, the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over-the-air software update to Android 7.0 Nougat,” Google said in a blogpost.

Any devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also receive this final version, it added. “Google has taken a different approach to build and launched Nougat which was announced earlier this year. Android Nougat reflects input from thousands of fans and developers all over the world. There are over 250 major features in Android Nougat,” Google V-P Product Management, Android and Google Play, Sameer Samat said.

The new OS version will offer users more productivity options, better battery life and is said to be more secure than the previous avatars.
The LG V20 will be the first non-Google smartphone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Nexus line of devices runs the Android operating system, with Google managing design, development, marketing and support of these devices.

The manufacturing is carried out by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). In the past, Nexus devices have been manufactured by OEMs like Motorola, HTC, Huawei and LG.

Google names each major release version of Android after something sweet. The previous versions were Marshmallow, Lollipop, Kitkat, Jellybean, Ice cream Sandwich, Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Froyo, Eclairs and Donut.
