Pune: The letter written to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is part of a general outreach to MPs from across the political spectrum to seek their support, a representative of agitating Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) students clarified here today.
“We had written to several MPs belonging to various political parties, seeking their support to our demands. Rahul Gandhi was one of them. There was no specific communication seeking his intervention and it was merely part of a general outreach campaign with a uniform draft,” Ranjit Nair of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Students’ Association (FSA) said, reacting to reports that the FSA had sought Rahul Gandhi’s intervention in a matter.
“We have not received any response from Rahul Gandhi to our communication,” he said.
FTII students have been boycotting classes since June 12 in protest against the government appointing Chauhan as its Chairman, claiming that he lacks “vision, credentials and stature” to head the institution.
